Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has successfully conducted a test flight for cloud seeding.

About Cloud Seeding

• It is a weather modification technology to create artificial rainfall.

Two ways of adding nucleiparticles to clouds: o Using large cannons that shoot particles into the sky. o Using aeroplanes that drop the particles from above. • Main Chemicals used for it include Silver iodide, dry ice, Potassium Iodide, Calcium Carbide, Ammonium Nitrate, Sodium Chloride etc.
